Writing
Students will write their Monday journal entry on the topic of their choice and share them.  We will continue working on our poetry unit this week and will write acrostics, haiku, cinquain poems, and "Where I Come From" poems.  We will complete our contest poem entry on Monday.  Students will complete their Latin root study guide on Tuesday/Wednesday and test will be on Thursday (ambi, aqua, aud, bene).

Spelling words
No spelling this week!

Science
In science, we are finishing up our space unit this week. We will have a quiz this Thursday over the planets. Here’s the link to the quizlet: https://quizlet.com/15957414/planet-facts-flash-cards/. I will be giving them a study guide on Thursday for next week’s unit test (on Wednesday). Here is a link that covers all of the vocabulary and the moon phases from this unit: https://quizlet.com/185935311/space-vocabulary-planet-facts-moon-phase-cycle-quizlet-flash-cards/ . Between the study guide and the quizlets, your student should have plenty to study to prepare for the test. Focus on the planet facts quizlet this week!

Social Studies

In social studies this week we are finishing up our Geography unit. We will not have any quizzes or tests this week.

Math
This week we will be working on multiplying and dividing multi-digit whole numbers. This week’s homework will be due Thursday.

Reading
On Monday, students will be turning in and presenting their book projects. Students will be taking the Winter MAPS test on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will have a test over our figurative language and poetry unit on Tuesday, December 18th. Students have been given a study guide that they can complete for extra credit to be added to their test grade. I have also created a Quizlet study link with terms that students will need to know for the test.

Reading homework policy: Students will be given a homework assignment every Monday, and it is due on Friday. If a student finishes early he or she may turn it in at any time. Late assignments will be accepted, however students will lose a point each week the assignment is late. The title of this week’s homework assignment is “Thomas Jefferson and the Big Cheese”

Help our classroom earn FREE books! When you place a Scholastic Book order, our class gets points to be used towards free books! Students will be given a brochure with books, or you can browse books atscholatic.com/bookclubs. If you do not already have an account you can create one for free. Connect your account with our class by entering the class code TJQDZ.
