All-A Classic Statement

All-A Classic Statement
Earlier this year (Superintendent Update #1) I shared with you my finding that one of the several characteristics that set our school district apart from other districts is our tremendous sense of school district and community pride in our academic excellence, our award-winning arts program, and our championship athletics program.

As many of you are aware, our boys and girls basketball teams have both qualified to play in the All-A Classic State Tournament in Richmond, Kentucky, next week. Like last year, many of our students, employees, parents, and community members are eager to show support for these student-athletes. With this in mind, I want to inform you that school may be cancelled on Friday, January 25th. I will make this decision on Wednesday, January 23rd immediately following the girls game at 6:30PM. We will publicize this decision on social media and through our one-call system. It is my hope that by giving everyone 7 days notice of this potential school cancellation, parents will have sufficient time to arrange for childcare for our younger students who are unable to attend the games on Friday.

As far as the other games are concerned, students should not need to miss school on Wednesday, January 23rd, since our girls do not play their first round game until 6:30PM. Any students who wish to attend the first round boys game on Thursday, January 24th, at 1:00PM, will be excused if they present a parent note. This parent note will not count against the total number of 6 parent notes for the year.

Schedule for the All-A Classic State Tournament:
Wednesday, January 23rd:
Girls Round 1 Game at 6:30PM

Thursday, January 24th:
Boys Round 1 Game at 1:00PM

Friday, January 25th:
Girls Quarterfinals at 11:30AM
Boys Quarterfinals at 6:30PM

Saturday, January 26th:
Girls Semifinals at 1:30PM
Boys Semifinals at 6:00PM

Sunday, January 27th:
Girls Finals at 12:00PM
Boys Finals at 2:00PM

It is my hope that this district and community can bring an overwhelming show of support not only for our basketball teams, but also for our cheerleaders and pep band students next week in Richmond, Kentucky. Let’s all come together, get behind our students, and support them as they continue our Tradition of Excellence!

With Bearcat Pride,
Dr. Matt Baker
Superintendent
